The Overlay section controls the layers, labels and various content on the map. Understanding the power of layers is important to unleash the power of GuideK12.
Managing the visualization of the students on the map:
Click on the Green Overlays button on the right-hand side of the screen. At the bottom of the drop-down menu is the Filter Overlay Option. Click in the box to turn on the dot distribution and select how to visualize the dots. If at any time, you would like to work on the map without the dots, simply uncheck the Dot Distribution Map box. Scaled Packed Points will adjust to visualize the dots based on the zoom level. When zoomed in close enough it will be a 1:1 ratio. Packed Points is always a 1:1 ratio.
Managing the visualization of the parcels on the map:
Turn on the Parcels under the Overlays menu to see property lines. It is important to see parcels for accurate boundary decisions. The other school boundaries can also be turned on from this menu to determine feeder patterns such as layering middle school boundaries over elementary boundaries.
